George Gruhns Guide to Vintage Guitars by George Gruhn and Walter Carter. The name variations included Bacon and Day and B&D for all the instruments co-developed by Fred Bacon and David Day. I was told when I bought it that Bruno was associated with Martin guitars, but after a bit of research I discovered that their partnership was dissolved long before this guitar was built, and that no Martin was ever built bearing only the Bruno name, so the hunt for a possible maker continues. This guitar has C. Bruno label and brand indicating it was made pre 1864 according to some resources, since the labels were changed to C. Bruno and Son after 1864. When it arrived it looked like the guitar had exploded from the inside. This was quickly reduced to avoid model confusion between the J-45s and the more expensive Southerner Jumbos. Please take close look at pictures for flaws, has not been tested. Ive restrung the Bruno with modern nylon gut strings. Gibson changed the name again in the 1950s to the SJ-200.
