Both the BA and BS in computer science require fulfillment of the general education requirement in the mathematical sciences by completing an approved two-quarter calculus sequence. In the field of machine learning and data science, a strong foundation in mathematics is essential for understanding and implementing advanced algorithms. In addition to his research, Veitch will teach courses on causality and machine learning as part of the new data science initiative at UChicago.
